Westwood Golf Club is pleased to announce that the Club's membership overwhelmingly approved a $5.1 million proposal to construct and furnish a 16,000 sq/ft clubhouse.
CCI Architects, an award winning firm specializing in private clubs with over 500 clubs designed nationwide, will lead the efforts to finalize construction drawings, attain necessary permits and hire a contractor over the next 6 months. Construction is expected to begin in December 2009 and a completed clubhouse is estimated for January 2011.
Founded in 1928 Westwood offers its membership the highest levels of quality, personal service and thoughtfully planned amenities. This magnificent parkland property is located in the heart of Southwest Houston inside Beltway 8, just minutes from Downtown, Greenway Plaza, the Galleria and the Medical Center.
Westwood reopened in May of 2004 as a golf-only facility, after an extensive three year renovation and re-design led by renowned golf course architect Keith Foster. The renovations were constructed by Landscapes Unlimited, which also completed Carlton Woods. The club is a private golf oasis of lush fairways, manicured greens and hand sculpted bunkers integrating state of the art turf grasses. Hardwood oaks, lakes, ponds, and a natural ravine grace this rolling terrain, in helping to shape and define the golf course.
The club boasts a par 72, 18-Hole Championship golf course with four sets of tees which can be stretched to 7,180 yards, designed to challenge every level of player and to provide a rewarding golf experience. Complementing the golf course is an extensive practice facility featuring an oversized driving range, and a five-acre, two hole short game area.
